Efemia Gisladottir - Principal
Efemia comes from Iceland and has been a teacher and a coordinator for 19 years and then a principal for four years. She has taught for two years in a small country school with 40 students and then two years in a big school in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, with 700 students. She has a diploma in special education and school management and a master in assessment. Efemia will be teaching some of the Math and Humanities curriculum for the Tromsø International School.

Elena Bjørgve - Administrative consultant and MYP teacher
Elena originates from Arkhangelsk (North-West Russia) and has been living in Norway since 2005. She has a Masters degree in Education from Pomor State University in Arkhangelsk. Elena has been working with children since she was a student as a private teacher, a teacher in different children clubs, as well as in summer camps. After university, she worked 1 year at school as a teacher in history and English, and then 7 years at the Pomor State University in Russia. At Tromsø International School, Elena is the Administrative Consultant and teaches the Russian Language B to MYP students.

Janita Sørensen - PYP Coordinator and PYP Teacher

Nathan B. Weston - PYP & MYP Teacher
Nate completed his Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of California at Santa Cruz, with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent Cognitive Brain Development. He then continued his Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL) in New Zealand, and then completed his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at California State University at Fullerton. He has been teaching Primary school for 5 years, with direct experience in grades K-5, Physical Education, and Newcomer English classes. Nate will be teaching PYP and MYP English, Physical Education, PYP Science, and ICT (Technology) at Tromsø International School.

Birgitte H. Hansen - MYP Coordinator
Birgitte has been working as a teacher for 16 years in primary, secondary and in high school. She completed her education from Høgskolen in Tromsø and Høgskolen in Sør Trøndelag. Birgitte is the MYP coordinator and will be teaching Spanish and Humanities for the MYP students at Tromsø International School.

Tonje Hofsøy - MYP teacher
Tonje completed her education from Hedmark College, Department of Education. Her major focus subjects are music, mathematics and science. She has spent 3 years teaching primary school, 9 years in the secondary school, and 3 years as a project manager for science and mathematical education. Tonje’s main focus at Tromsø International School are in the subjects of Math, Science, and Music.
